How to Program a Lexus Garage Door Opener for a Multi-Button Remote Control

  1. Park your vehicle outside the garage.
  2. Hold your original garage door remote one to three inches away from the in-vehicle HomeLink control buttons.
  3. Simultaneously press the button on your remote control unit and the button you want to use on your in-vehicle HomeLink system.
  4. Hold until the HomeLink indicator flashes repeatedly then changes to solid.
  5. Press the HomeLink button twice to activate.
  6. If the HomeLink button operates the garage door, you’re all set. If it doesn’t, and the HomeLink indicator flashes continuously, you have a “rolling code” system, and you will need to proceed to the next step:
  7. In your garage, find the “smart” or “learn” button on your garage door opener motor (should be on the back near the hanging antenna wire).
  8. Press and release the smart or learn button.
  9. Within the next 30 seconds, return to your vehicle and press the desired HomeLink button three times.

How to Program a Lexus Garage Door Opener for a Single Button Remote Control

  1. Park your vehicle outside the garage.
  2. Press and hold the desired HomeLink button. The indicator should start to flash slowly within 20 seconds. Continue to hold the button while performing the next step.
  3. Position the remote control one to three inches from the HomeLink control buttons.
  4. While continuing to hold down the HomeLink button, press the button on the remote until the HomeLink indicator begins to flash rapidly or turns solid.
  5. Release the remote button and press and hold the HomeLink button. If the indicator light is solid, then programming is complete. Press the HomeLink button twice to activate. You’re done! (If the indicator light continues to flash rapidly, you have a “rolling code” garage door system, and you will need to perform the following steps.)
  6. Find the “smart” or “learn” button on your garage door opener motor (should be on the back near the hanging antenna wire).
  7. Press and release the smart or learn button.
